Women Who Rock: Nikki Smith

We are super excited about this article posted on the D.C. Music Download blog that features an extended interview with Nikki in the latest installment of their ongoing "Women Who Rock" series, putting her in the company of some pretty rockin' ladies around the District of Columbia and beyond.

"Smith, a California native, cultivated her passion for music through her parents. Her mother is an active member of Sweet Adelines International (a group of women singers advancing the music form of barbershop), and her father, who plays guitar in a classic rock cover band," according to the article.

The article came about largely because Lauren wrote to the blog to nominate Nikki for the series. Nice work, Lauren!

Raising money for Girls Rock! DC

In an interview with Katy Ray of Tagg Magazine, Nikki discusses what it's like to be a girl in a boys club, as the rock 'n 'roll music scene tends to be, and how she hopes to improve the station of future generations of girls by supporting organizations like Girls Rock! DC.

"At some point, we've all felt mistreated or short-changed because we're girls. This is one small way we can try to make things better for the next generation – supporting an organization that aims to enrich and empower young women."

Having a blast at Phase Fest

What an awesome weekend! Thanks for having us, Phase Fest!

This is a fabulous event put on every year by the good people at Phase 1 for the last several years, and Nikki has performed at every single one.

The band was thrilled to share the stage on this night with G.U.T.S., Company Calls, Glitterlust, The CooLots and The Shondes. And what an electric night it was!
